M. Gino Brogdon, Sr. is a true legal renaissance man. He is a nationally sought-after mediator known for his big sense of humor, quick study wit and an uncanny knack for establishing a rapport even with the most peculiar professional and lay personalities. As the youngest of eleven children, this Ohio native earned his legal stripes as a trial lawyer in a number of large, respected law firms in Atlanta prosecuting and defending all kinds of serious civil matters across the country. Gino also served nearly ten years on one of the country’s busiest trial benches, State and Superior Courts in Atlanta, Fulton County, Georgia. Having been appointed to the bench at 34 years old, Gino presided over an expansive array of civil cases including the ValuJet crash, gun manufacturers litigation, wrongful death, high stakes business and construction disputes, motor carrier liability, product liability, medical and other professional malpractice cases, and the list goes on. Gino established a strong reputation as a no-nonsense trial judge with a special touch for distilling complex matters to the bare elements. As a trial judge, Gino was known for his ability to streamline the discovery process, his remarkable proficiency to wade through a complex motions practice to realize early trials and displayed a robust ability to shepherd waring parties through the sometimes tedious and stressful negotiation process. Gino’s courtroom demeanor set high marks amongst his colleagues and the bar.
He has brought this same clear-headed, streamlining approach to mediating and arbitrating nearly 3,000 cases since 2002. As a full time mediator, arbitrator and special master, Gino is known for his decisiveness, authenticity, strong but agile style and his nearly unmatched work ethic through complete resolution of the dispute. Gino brings a rare realism, common touch and efficiency to every mediation and arbitration leaving a lasting positive impression on its participants. Gino has handles a broad variety of cases including professional malpractice, trucking, premises, product liability, mass torts, celebrity misconduct, employment, civil rights and a smattering of disputes involving professional athletes. Gino’s most exciting recent professional venture has been in preparing to be the host judge on a new daytime series, Personal Injury Court, an MGM product. During this daily show Judge Gino will preside over a variety of bizarre, high stakes personal injury cases yielding sometimes shocking and thought provoking results. This program will air nationwide in September 2019.
Gino graduated from Oberlin College, B.A. Economics (1983) and Indiana University School of Law-Bloomington (1986). He has been a member go the Georgia bar since 1987 and Indiana bar in 1986. Gino lives in Atlanta and has three sons, two lawyers and a professional basketball player.
